Immerse yourself in an exceptional outdoor musical evening with conductor Margaryta Grynyvetska, where tradition and innovation meet under the stars! Let yourself be seduced by Florence Price's Colonial Dance, a vibrant orchestral piece that blends classical colours and popular rhythms with sparkling energy, a sign of the creative legacy of one of the essential voices of American music.
Next, make way for contemporary virtuosity with John Adams' Saxophone Concerto performed by Valentine Michaud, whom we welcome back after her residency with the OSR during the 2024–25 season: a modern and captivating work that gives centre stage to the alto saxophone, inspired by the sounds of jazz and carried by sparkling orchestral writing.
The evening will conclude with a grand finale featuring Antonín Dvorák's famous Symphony No. 9 “From the New World”, a masterpiece of the symphonic repertoire, born of the influence of American folk music and European traditions.
